AAHC Community Initiative for Athens-Clarke:
We are a group of citizens who want a passive use equine park in Athens-Clarke County.
Sandy Creek Park’s trails are a start, but they’re not enough. These short, dead-end paths stop at the wetlands, forcing riders to double back. It’s like having half a trail when we need a full, flowing network.
We need equine trails that are:
- Longer and Connected: Open paths for real rides, not just quick loops.
- Accessible: Welcoming for all riders, from beginners to seasoned equestrians.
- Sustainable: Built to last, preserving our green spaces.
Think of trails like the wide-open spaces at our best local parks—designed for everyone to enjoy. Together, we can make Athens-Clarke a haven for horse riders!
