Horses in Athens-Clarke county

AAHC Community Initiative for Athens-Clarke: We are a group of citizens who want a passive use equine park in Athens-Clarke County.

Yes, we know Sandy Creek has equine use trails. HOWEVER – it is a technical turn back trail – it dead-ends at the wetlands and you have to turn around and ride back. A good comparison of the trails to something non-horse people understand is – the trails at Sandy Creek, being more of a short/technical trail, are kind of like having 6 holes of the Master’s golf course when what we really need should be easier and the whole course – comparable to the golf courses at Lane Creek, Jennings Mill, or GA Club level of equine trails.

How can you help?

1. Sign the petition form below and read/skim the emails from the AAHC Team when they come into your inbox.
2. Attend Athens-Clarke Leisure Services meetings and be prepared to tell county decision makers who you are and why you want a horse park in the county. (See #1 – we will send out emails!)
3. Attend AAHC Community Initiative Meetings to stay informed and connected with other Athens-Clarke equine trail riders. Find the next meeting here: AAHC CALENDAR
4. If you are truly passionate about community initiatives like this, please consider joining AAHC as a paying member. Membership starts as low as $9/month and support projects like this all over the greater Athens area.
